Circus Wedding styled Shoot

I am so excited to be able to share these images with you! I've been taking part in styled shoots as a hair and makeup artist for quite some time now, but it can be quite tricky to find the right shoot to take face paint and glitter to, it doesn't always fit with the concept of the shoot. This shoot was absolutely perfect for a bit of face and body art, and although it had originally been planned for April 2020 to coincide with bluebell season, we managed to postpone it to September 2020. Head over to Unconventional Wedding to read the full writeup and see the video, and keep scrolling to read about the face and body art, and see some of my favourite images!

The Face and Body Art

When I'm doing hair and makeup, it can be relatively easy to plan exactly what I'm going to do ahead of time, but I find with face and body art, this isn't always the best option. When I paint at someone's wedding or event, I bring an inspiration board for guests to get an idea of the kind of design they can have, but designs can be so variable on personality and I often take inspiration from my surroundings and my clients clothing. I had a rough idea of some of the elements I wanted to include, but I took a lot of inspiration on the day from the beautiful dress Justina was wearing. I had originally planned on doing a single eye design, but after I saw the masks on the cake, I decided to create an asymmetrical lace style mask across Justina's eyes, with floral motifs to mimic the headdress and dress, and then I carried these floral elements through to the design I created on Justina's back and arm, and topped it off with some eco glitter under Justina's eyes.
